TEAM JONELL TAKES THE WIN AT THE NEBRASKA PGA PRO AM FACILITIES CHAMPIONSHIP

Lincoln, NE. – A breezy, hot day was the climate for the Nebraska PGA ProAm Facilities Championship at the Country Club of Lincoln.  Sam Jonell, PGA of Miracle Hill Golf and Tennis and his amateur partners of Ken Mueller, Mike Hansen and Jim Newcomm took the solo spot at 15-under-par to win the 1 NET variable best ball format event.  Coming in a close second at just two shots back at 13-under-par was Matt Shaner, PGA of Golf USA and his amateur team of Curt Foster, Howard Dondlinger and Rod Betke.

The Professional division was a tight race all day and ended in a five-way tie with a score of 2-under-par.  PGA Professionals that will be sharing the top spot are, Scott Holly, PGA of the UNL PGM Program; Mike Coatman of Firethorn GC; Steve Friesen, PGA of Firethorn GC; Sam Jonell, PGA of Miracle Hill G&T and Nick Wanderscheid, PGA of Green Valley Golf Course.

Today’s event also featured the “Chrome-Soft” Shootout on hole #5 sponsored by Callaway Golf and regional sales rep, Brian Winge, PGA.  Howard Dondlinger will receive an Odyssey putter for putting his tee shot within 6 feet from the hole.

The Nebraska Section of the PGA is one of 41 Sections that together comprise the PGA of America.  The Nebraska Section PGA is a non-for-profit organization comprised of approximately 261 PGA Members and 21 PGA Associates who strive to promote the enjoyment and growth of the game of golf.  The Nebraska Section PGA encompasses the entire State of Nebraska, western fifth of Iowa and a small portion of South Dakota including Dakota Dunes and Yankton.  The Section office is located in Lincoln, NE and acts as a resource for local and national golf information for the golf professional and amateur players alike.  Our members are often referred to as “Club Professionals”, not to be mistaken as PGA Tour Professionals.  Each Nebraska Section PGA Professional serves as an expert in the ever-changing business of golf.  They are the leading expert players and teachers, skilled business managers, community leaders, and superior merchandisers who have dedicated their careers to the local delivery of these services.
