PGA Jr. League is a fun, social, and inclusive opportunity for boys and girls, ages 17 & under, to enjoy the game of golf. Like other recreational youth sports, participants wear numbered jerseys and play on teams with friends. Our Nebraska PGA Professionals coach teams in a popular two-person scramble format, which reinforces the team concept and creates a nurturing environment for learning the game of golf.
In 2023, over 1,800 juniors (21.4% growth from 2022) and more than 35 PGA Professionals participated in PGA Jr. League throughout the Nebraska Section. There were 451 scholarships given out to kids to participate in PGA Jr. League in 2023. The total value of scholarships was nearly $45,000 worth as we strive to provide kids the opportunity to play golf. With the continued support of PGA REACH and Nebraska PGA Members, 2024 looks to be even stronger as we look to grow this fun, introductory golf program.
The Golf-N-Schools program uses Starting New At Golf (SNAG) equipment to introduce golf to students. SNAG has a curriculum that meets national physical education standards with golf equipment that is safe and developmentally appropriate. With PGA Professionals training PE teachers, and our Foundation providing the equipment, we can make golf a key component of our elementary and middle school curriculum.
There are currently over 125 Schools in the Nebraska Section PGA that participate.
