Lincoln, NE – Presented by Club Car (Nebraska Golf & Turf) and Chesterman Company, Firethorn Golf Club hosted 33 teams and 132 players for a Pro-Am event. The challenging Pete Dye track saw seven Nebraska PGA Professionals fire red numbers with two tied at the top.
Early in the morning wave, Shane Zywiec, PGA of Highlands GC began his day with three birdies in the first five holes and made the turn at 33 (3-under). After playing the back nine even par, he posted 68 (3-under) and went into the clubhouse with the lead. Playing at his home course, Brady Schnell of Firethorn GC took advantage and made four birdies with his lone blemish coming on No. 9. Schnell posted the best back nine score in the field at 33 (2-under) and shared low-Professional honors with Zywiec.
Ryan Vermeer, PGA of Happy Hollow Club and Mike Coatman of Firethorn GC finished tied and one back of the leaders at 69 (2-under) while Judd Cornell, PGA of The Players Club Omaha, Jonathan Beaver, PGA of Landsmeer GC and Justin Herron, PGA of Oak Hills CC finished tied for fifth at 70 (1-under). In the team event, Sam Jonell, PGA of Miracle Hill Golf & Tennis and his amateur teammates Jeff Reitz, Jason Dailey and Grady Bishop fired an impressive 23-under in the two-net best ball format.
