Wanderscheid and Coatman Tie For Low-Pro Honors at Dakota Dunes CC; Team Coatman Captures Team Title

Dakota Dunes, SD – Nebraska PGA Professionals and their teams of Amateurs made the trip out to Dakota Dunes Country Club for a full field Pro-Am event. For the first time this season, beautiful weather and perfect scoring conditions welcomed our players to the event. 28 teams took on a challenging course aiming to capture the title in the team format while NEPGA Professionals looked to win low-Professional honors.

In the Professional field, Mike Coatman of Firethorn Golf Club and host Professional Nick Wanderscheid, PGA of Dakota Dunes Country Club tied for low-Pro honors at 5-under-par. Coatman’s round was highlighted by five consecutive birdies beginning on his 11th hole. To go along with his stellar round, Coatman made birdies on both of our Tito’s Handmade Vodka Holes of the Week (Hole No. 3 & 14) to get himself rolling in the season-long event. Defending his home course, Wanderscheid fired a bogey-free 67 to match Coatman for low-pro honors. Wanderscheid stayed consistent throughout his entire round and he went on his own streak with three consecutive birdies starting on No. 6.

In the team division, Mike Coatman and his Amateurs represented by Scott Tridle, Chris Christensen and Will Andersen finished at 16-under-par to win the Pro-Am event. Their team went on a hot streak from hole No. 17 to No. 3 playing the five holes at 9-under-par in the two-net best ball format. Finishing tied for second was teams led by Sam Jonell, PGA and Mike Cornell, PGA at 14-under-par.

It was once again exciting to get our Membership together for a Pro-Am event and we’re grateful to have held it at Dakota Dunes Country Club.
