VERMEER LEADS GROUP OF PROFESSIONALS IN RED NUMBERS AT HILLCREST COUNTRY CLUB

Lincoln, NE. – On one of the best days of weather for golf this season, 34 Nebraska PGA Professionals and their teams of Amateurs teed it up in our Pro 3-Am at Hillcrest Country Club presented by Club Car and Nebraska Golf & Turf. Our Professionals took advantage of the scoring conditions today as five of them went on to shoot rounds under-par, led by Happy Hollow Club’s Ryan Vermeer.

One year after his course-record 61 (-11) at Hillcrest, Vermeer went on to fire another stellar round of 67 (-5) to lead the Professional field today. Vermeer birdied two of the first four holes and his bogey-free 33 on the front-nine set him up success for the rest of his round. Vermeer stayed hot on the back-nine with two birdies in his first four holes before his first bogey of the day on No. 16. He then capped off his round with a birdie on his final hole to win low-Professional honors for the fourth straight event.

Along with Vermeer, four more Nebraska PGA Professionals turned in impressive scores underpar. Jon Petersen of Tiburon Golf Club and Alex Carper of Wilderness Ridge fired respective rounds of 70 and two-under-par while Mike Antonio of Happy Hollow Club and Justin Herron of Oak Hills finished at 71 (-1). In the team division, Justin Herron and his Amateurs Jimmy Norris, Greg Garland and Jim Atkinson took home first place after turning in a score of 16-under-par.
