Las Vegas, NV. – Presented by Callaway Golf, Harris Golf Cars and Vinnie Krikac’s State Farm Insurance Agency, Nebraska PGA Professionals and their teams of Amateurs teed it up at Cascata for the final round of the 32nd Nebraska PGA Vegas Classic. The private facility and Rees Jones Design featuring a 3,600-foot Red Mountain set up for a fantastic finish to the 32nd edition of the event. After an extremely tough day at Rio Secco Golf Club due to high winds, scoring conditions were much better during the final round of the event resulting in great scores and late drama. Like past years, the 32nd NEPGA Vegas Classic played through a Stableford format featuring point totals for each hole rather than stroke-play.

The day began with nearly 10 teams in contention for the team division but a familiar name found themselves at the top of the leaderboard yet again. James Weaver, PGA of Southern Hills GC and his team of Amateurs (Scott Lodes, Adam Sautter, Scott Sautter and Brian Palmer) hung on to their wire-to-wire lead and capture the team division by just one stroke. After scoring 111 and 115 in the first two rounds, Weaver and company grinded out 106 points which was just enough to top Tim Kruse, PGA’s team by one.

Jumping to the Professional division, Shane Zywiec, PGA of Highlands Golf Course came into today with the lead after two rounds thanks to brilliant play to begin the week. Coming down the stretch, Zywiec had numerous Professionals on his tail all the way till his final hole. Zywiec birdied three of his final four holes in route to 14 points during that stretch which proved to be huge. Zywiec led the Professional field with 15 birdies on the week and shot a single-round field best 68 at DragonRidge Country Club.

We would like to thank the Professional staffs at DragonRidge CC, Rio Secco GC and Cascata for hosting each of our three rounds this week. We would also like to thank Callaway Golf, Harris Golf Cars and Vinnie Krikac’s State Farm Insurance Agency for making this event possible once again. We are already looking forward to next year’s event and hope to see new faces when the time comes around.
