Bellevue, NE – New in 2025, the Nebraska Section PGA introduced a brand-new event on the Section tournament schedule to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Nebraska PGA — the Centennial Cup.

A total of 32 Nebraska PGA Professionals were selected to compete in the inaugural event, representing two teams: Team Omaha and Team World. Platteview Golf Club served as the host venue for the first year of this special competition, which featured a Ryder Cup–style format.

The morning session featured 18-hole team matches, played in pairs. The front nine followed a four-ball format, while the back nine switched to alternate shot. In the afternoon, players competed in 9-hole singles matches, going head-to-head.

Every hole in every match was worth one point, for a total of 288 points available. To claim the Cup, a team needed to surpass 144.5 points.

Both teams were fully outfitted by Puma/Cobra, and a special thanks goes to Sales Representative Pat Dunphy for making it happen! The teams are listed below:

Team Omaha

  • Captain Tony Pesavento, Pete Hagen, Ryan Norman, Jon Petersen, Nick Shanahan, Brian Steventon, Mike Antonio, Austin Miller, TJ Loudner, Chris Wiemers, Tony Baranowski, Dylan Dauenhauer, Justin Onken, Ryan Vermeer, Justin Herron and Alex Janssen

Team World

  • Captain Jim White, Adam Bradfield, Scott Holly, David Honnens, Sarah Pravecek, Brad Bailey, Kyle Schellpeper, Alex Carper, Mark Foelbaek, Trevor Chesnut, Joe Sutter, Tony Collins, Ky Molholm, Matt Nelson, Shane Zywiec and Joe Canny

After the first 18 holes in the morning, Team World took a small lead into the afternoon single matches with a score of 73.5 to 70.5. Though the day offered an opportunity for NEPGA Members from all across the Section to reunite, competitive juices were flowing and the afternoon matches were set up for a dramatic finish.

In the singles matches, Jon Petersen led the way for Team Omaha collecting 8 points while Ryan Norman brought in 7.5 points. With a total score of 150.5 to 137.5, Team Omaha claimed the inaugural Centennial Cup in a tight battle in Bellevue.

We would like to thank all 32 players that participated and the staff at Platteview Golf Club for hosting all day long. We would also like to thank Chesterman Co. Coca-Cola, Puma/Cobra, Sterling Cut Glass and the PGA TOUR for supporting the event and our Nebraska PGA Professionals.
