Fremont, NE – Gusting winds and low-temperatures welcomed 24 teams and 96 players to Fremont Golf Club for another Nebraska Section PGA Pro-Am event. Today’s format was 1 net and 1 gross best ball with teams being represented by one PGA Professional and three amateurs. The constant winds made an already tough golf course even harder, and it showed in the final scores across each division.
In the Professional-only field, Mitchell Klooz of Champions Run posted an even-par (71) round to set the number early in the day. Later in the afternoon, Sam Jonell, PGA of Miracle Hill Golf & Tennis matched Klooz at even-par thanks to a finishing birdie on No. 18. Both scores held strong throughout the day until Happy Hollow’s Ryan Vermeer joined the group with his own round of even-par. The three players finish the day with a share of the Professional victory at today’s event.
In the team event, Mitchell Klooz & company fired a round of 9-under-par to set the bar before Sam Jonell’s Team moved to the top of leaderboard with their own round of 10-under-par. Playing alongside Jonell was Mike Hansen, Jeff Reitz and Ken Mueller. Their squad was one of eleven teams that were able to shoot under par in today’s extremely tough conditions. We also want to congratulate Amateurs Dan Parks and Paul Roth on their great shots into holes 2 and 10 for our Closest to the Hole Challenge, presented by Mizuno Golf. Both players will receive a brand new, custom fit Mizuno driver!
