Lincoln, NE – Presented by Club Car (Nebraska Golf & Turf), Hillcrest Country Club hosted 27 teams and 108 players for another Pro-Am event. Continuing with the recent trend, perfect weather and scoring conditions led to impressive scores across the board which included six Nebraska PGA Professionals in red figures.
Early in the morning wave, Ted DiGiacomo, PGA of Golf Galaxy and Happy Hollow Club posted a 68 (4-under) to set the bar in the Professional-only event. DiGiacomo’s round included two eagles and a bogey-free back nine. Alex Carper, PGA of Alex Carper Golf matched DiGiacomo at 4-under after making seven birdies on the day to go along with his own bogey-free back nine. With two players sharing the top of the leaderboard, someone in the afternoon wave would have to knock them off. Andrew Storm, PGA of Shadow Ridge Country Club did just that.
Storm opened his round with a 1-under showing on the front side before everything began to click on the back. He opened his back nine with a birdie on No. 10 and eventually found himself two back of the leaders with three to play. Storm went on to birdie his final three holes to capture low-Professional honors thanks to his impressive finish down the stretch. In addition, Storm and his amateur teammates Brett Clark, Greg Eloge and Tony Caputo shot 23-under to win the team event to complete a Monday sweep.
