Lincoln, NE – The Nebraska Section PGA is proud to announce Shane McClure, PGA of Golf Galaxy Omaha, as the January Wilson Sporting Goods Game Ball Recipient in recognition of his outstanding commitment to PGA HOPE Nebraska and the veteran community.

McClure became PGA HOPE Adaptive trained in 2024 and began serving as a certified PGA HOPE Instructor shortly after. His impact was immediately felt during the programs. He left inspired by the experience and relationships to do more than just the formal programs. He extended his support by offering complimentary simulator nights this winter for PGA HOPE graduates at Golf Galaxy Omaha. His initiative has provided graduates with continued access to the game, strengthening connections and reinforcing PGA HOPE Nebraska’s mission to keep veterans engaged long after graduation.

Working alongside veterans has been deeply meaningful for McClure, both professionally and personally.

“PGA HOPE is a wonderful program that makes it very easy for me to give back. We are very fortunate to have Amber spearheading our Section’s program. She has driven our PGA HOPE program to what I would think is the best in the nation.”

Through simulator sessions, McClure uses advanced tools to tailor instruction to each participant’s goals.

“Working with the veterans at my home at Golf Galaxy has been awesome. Utilizing TrackMan data and video analysis to identify areas of opportunity and apply specific drills to reach their goals. The Vets are always extremely thankful and I always leave work with a smile. Beyond the instruction it is always enlightening and fun having conversations with our vets.”

The story carries even greater significance for McClure because of his family connection to PGA HOPE. His father, Dale McClure, a U.S. Army Veteran who served with the 48th Assault Helicopter Company in Vietnam in 1970, completed the PGA HOPE Nebraska program at The Club at Indian Creek. Shane participated in the experience as the program’s lead PGA HOPE instructor. When graduation certificates were handed out, it was a proud moment for both father and son, sharing and experiencing the impact of PGA HOPE together, firsthand.

“My father loves the game with a passion. Seeing him engage with fellow veterans is extremely satisfying. He plans on volunteering to help with the program and I know he will be a great asset to the program.”

McClure’s dedication exemplifies the spirit of PGA HOPE — using golf as a platform for healing, camaraderie, and continued growth. By creating opportunities for veterans to stay connected to the game and each other, he has helped strengthen a community that extends far beyond the golf course.

The Nebraska Section PGA congratulates Shane McClure on being named the January Wilson Sporting Goods Game Ball Recipient and thanks him for his continued leadership and service to PGA HOPE Nebraska and the veterans it serves.

Nominations for the next Wilson Sporting Goods Monthly Game Ball will open on February 1st and will close at 11:59 PM on February 15th.
