Omaha, NE – 30 teams of Nebraska PGA Professionals and their amateur partners competed at Oak Hills Country Club with blistering winds making playing conditions tough. The event’s format was 1-net best ball on par 3’s, 2-net best ball on par 4’s, and 3-net best ball on par 5’s. One week after a Firethorn team swept the Fremont Pro-Am, history repeated itself at Oak Hills CC.

Brady Schnell of Firethorn Golf Club got off to a quick start in his round going eagle, birdie, birdie to begin his day 4-under thru just three holes. Schnell went out in 32 (4-under) and stayed consistent on the back nine to post 66 (5-under) for the day in one of the more impressive rounds we will see all season. Schnell was one of just three Nebraska PGA Professionals to shoot in red figures with how tough the course played from start to finish.

In the team event, Brady Schnell and his amateur partners Pat Wallace, Pat Sullivan and Rick Wagner put on a near perfect performance. The Firethorn group was the only one on the leaderboard to not bogey a single hole on the day in route to a team total of 23-under. The four of them took advantage of the par 5’s and that’s where they set themselves apart. In the format, each team had to count three balls on the par 5’s, leaving little to no room for error. They played the four par 5’s at 11-under and that was the story of their round.
