Nic Latcham brings a wide range of teaching experience to PGA REACH Nebraska with hopes of making a positive impact on the community.
PGA REACH Nebraska, the charitable arm of the Nebraska Section PGA, began 10 years ago within a room of PGA Professionals that aspired to make a difference in the community through the game of golf. Since then, the Foundation has grown immensely through PGA HOPE, Clubs FORE Youth, Golf ‘N Schools, Omaha Outreach and PGA Jr. League. The outstanding growth has created a good problem in needing more staff to work alongside Nebraska PGA Professionals across the Section.
PGA REACH Nebraska is excited to announce recent UNL PGA Golf Management Graduate Nic Latcham will fill the duties of the newly created position within the Foundation. Latcham has a wide range of experience in teaching that goes as far as learning from one of the best in the game in Jim McLean. Latcham has spent a lot of time early in his career working with junior golfers, but he’s instructed individuals of all ages and skill levels. Latcham is excited to not only teach, but to make a positive impact through PGA REACH Nebraska’s programming.
“I am very excited and grateful to have this position. I have always been passionate about both golf and helping This position is going to merge my passions perfectly,” said Latcham. “I can’t wait to start serving different communities in Nebraska through PGA REACH Nebraska’s many great programs and I’m excited to start making a positive impact through golf instruction.”
Latcham completed several internships throughout his college career highlighted by his most recent Teaching Assistant position at Wakonda Club in Des Moines, IA near his hometown of Waukee. In his time there, he instructed seven Operation 36 programs and provided private instruction using the Mike Adams Bio Swing Dynamics methodology. He also spent six months with the Lincoln City Golf Academy serving more than 800 youth through multi-day camps, private lessons and coaching team golf.
“With the rapid growth of our programs, Nic will make a great addition to our team as we continue to make an impact on people’s lives through the game of golf,” said PGA REACH Nebraska Managing Director Seth Scollard, PGA.
PGA HOPE Nebraska is expanding to seven programs and will impact over 300 Veterans in 2023. The Clubs FORE Youth program continues to break down barriers for high school girls and has gained major support with the impact being made so quickly. PGA Jr. League will impact over 1,500 kids this year in Nebraska as we continue to make sure it is accessible to every child, everywhere, regardless of background or circumstance. One thing about PGA REACH Nebraska that intrigues Latcham is the wide variety of golfers he will experience through each program.
“This is a great opportunity for me to experience teaching on so many different levels,” said Latcham. “I think this sets me up to enjoy what I am doing and will give me the chance to create a sense of community with the individuals in our programs. I can’t wait to get started.”
Teaching is already Latcham’s passion and his desire to give back to his community makes him the perfect match for the new position.
