Lincoln, NE – The Nebraska Section PGA is proud to recognize Nic Latcham, PGA of Under Par Golf Studio as the Wilson Sporting Goods Game Ball recipient for September.
The Wilson Game Ball honors PGA Professionals who exemplify leadership, innovation, and dedication to growing the game of golf. In just three years as a PGA Member, Nic has made a profound impact through his teaching, community outreach, and unwavering commitment to service.
“It’s a great honor to be recognized by fellow PGA Professionals,” Nic shared. “It means a lot knowing the work I’m doing is seen and appreciated. We all try to grow the game and make a positive impact, so to be acknowledged by those working towards the same mission is really meaningful.”
Nic began his journey in the golf industry with the Nebraska Section PGA staff, where he quickly learned the dedication required to operate tournaments, foundation initiatives, and Section events. That experience gave him a unique appreciation for the behind-the-scenes work that supports the game’s growth.
“Starting by working with the NEPGA showed me how much work gets put in behind the scenes,” he said. “We really have the best Section staff.”
Today, Nic serves as a full-time instructor at Under Par Golf Studio, where he works with a wide range of students—from young beginners to senior golfers rediscovering the game. His ability to connect with players of all ages and skill levels has made him a sought-after teacher in Lincoln.
“Having left to be a full-time instructor at Under Par Golf Studio was a great next step,” Nic explained. “I’ve had the ability to grow and learn in my job while staying connected in Section and Foundation events. I look forward to growing as a PGA Professional, seeing what my students are able to achieve, and seeing more lives changed through the game of golf.”
Nic’s impact extends far beyond the lesson tee. His leadership in the PGA HOPE program has introduced hundreds of Veterans to the healing power of golf. For Nic, the program has become a calling.
“Being involved with PGA HOPE has been the best part of my career so far,” he said. “Through the years I’ve witnessed many veterans get better at golf, seen how it can be rehabilitative, and even seen lives saved through this program. From everything, I’m inspired to stay involved and encourage others to come and see for themselves.”
That dedication was on full display at this year’s PGA HOPE Classic, where Nic walked alongside a disabled Veteran using a solo rider cart for all 18 holes. Step for step, shot for shot, Nic stayed by his side to ensure he could fully enjoy the event.
“It made the Veteran’s day and was a powerful example of how Nic’s presence makes it possible for others to experience the game with dignity and joy,” said Nebraska PGA Assistant Executive Director Seth Scollard. “Nic consistently channels his energy and commitment into creating access, building relationships, and inspiring the next generation of players across Nebraska.”
Nic’s commitment doesn’t stop there. He also lends his time to Golf 101 classes in the city, assists with PGA HOPE sessions in both Lincoln and Omaha, and continues to grow his teaching practice at Under Par Golf Studio.
“Nic has been working with so many new clients at Under Par,” noted Nebraska PGA Professional Derek Jensen. “From young beginners to senior golfers, he does so much for the city while also giving his time to help veterans. He truly enjoys making a difference.”
Nic’s colleagues and students agree: he embodies the mission of both the Nebraska Section PGA and Wilson Sporting Goods by igniting potential and inspiring others to discover the game.
The Wilson Sporting Goods Game Ball Award celebrates Nebraska PGA Professionals who go above and beyond in their work and communities. For his service to Veterans, his dedication to students, and his passion for growing the game from the grassroots level, Nic Latcham exemplifies that spirit in every way.
Nominations for the next Wilson Sporting Goods Monthly Game Ball will open on October 1st and will close at 11:59 PM on October 15th.
