Gothenburg, NE – Presented by All Star Pro Golf, Wild Horse Golf Club hosted 20 teams of Nebraska PGA Professionals for the Section’s final major championship of the 2024 season. The format for the event was 36-holes of continuous best-ball for the teams of two with one ball being counted each hole. Wild Horse GC is a top-100 public golf course in the country and pairing that with beautiful weather, it was a perfect day for everyone involved.

Teams were formed from members of the same facility and Professionals could be on multiple teams based on their job title and how many other Professionals from their facility played.

The event began with a shotgun start at 10:00am and the team out of The Knolls Golf Course got off to a hot start. Playing and representing the City of Omaha golf course, Bill Jacobsen and Drew Wilderman made five birdies in their first six holes (No. 10, 11, 12, 13, 15) to break out to an early lead. After taking third place last season, the team of Greg Neujahr, PGA and Mitch Klooz of Champions Run Omaha came back for vengeance. The duo got off to a slower start by playing their first nine holes of the day just 2-under, but then Neujahr caught fire.

The former Nebraska Senior PGA Champion made an eagle on the par 5 14th and then another eagle on the par 5 – 17th and they kept it rolling. In addition to Neujahr’s impressive first round, Klooz fired a bogey-free 68 (4-under) providing insurance for Neujahr any time he had a rough hole. The two players “ham and egged” it better than anyone else in the field and they went on to fire a two round total of 15-under to win their first championship together.

In addition to that duo, three other teams out of Champions Run Omaha finished in the top five. Brad Bailey, PGA and Jon Moore, PGA played well and with the combinations of Klooz and Neujahr, the teams finished in first, second, third and shared a tie for fourth completing a Champions Run sweep in the event.
