Lincoln, NE – Presented by Club Car (Nebraska Golf & Turf) and Chesterman Co. Coca-Cola, a season-high 38 teams competed this week at the Pete Dye-designed Firethorn Golf Club for the Nebraska PGA Section Pro-Am. The event featured a 2-Net Best Ball team competition alongside an individual stroke-play championship for the PGA Professionals.

Playing in one of the first groups of the morning wave, Country Club of Lincoln’s Mark Foelbaek, PGA continued his outstanding 2026 season by firing a tournament-best 64 (7-under). Foelbaek capped his impressive round with birdies on Nos. 15, 16, 17, and 18 to secure Low Professional honors. Despite setting the pace early, several other Nebraska PGA Professionals also turned in impressive rounds on the challenging Pete Dye layout.

Happy Hollow Club’s Ryan Vermeer, PGA carded a 66 (5-under) to finish runner-up individually, while defending champion Brady Schnell of Firethorn Golf Club claimed solo third with a 68 (3-under). In all, eight Nebraska PGA Professionals posted rounds under par, while a score of 73 (2-over) was required to earn a top-10 finish.

Vermeer’s strong individual performance also propelled his team to victory in the Pro-Am competition. Alongside amateur teammates Chad McMahon, Matt Cradick, and Brady Smith, the foursome combined for an impressive 18-under-par total in the 2-Net Best Ball format to claim the team title. Bruce Smith, PGA of Omaha Country Club and his team finished one stroke back at 17-under, earning runner-up honors.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Director of Golf Mike Coatman, PGA and the entire Firethorn Golf Club professional staff for their warm hospitality and exceptional course conditions.
