Omaha, NE. – Nebraska PGA Professionals and their teams of Amateurs came together for another Pro-Am event at Tiburon Golf Club. In the 27-hole event, Nebraska PGA Professionals teamed up with Amateurs from across our Section to compete in a unique format. Teams recorded one net best ball on the Red (Mako) course, two net best ball on the White (Great White) course followed by one gross and one net best ball on the Blue (Hammerhead) course.
Just a year ago, the Nebraska Section PGA hosted this same event at Tiburon GC where Tony Baranowski and his team of Amatuers went on to win with a total score of 16-under par. Fast forward to this year and seven teams were able to beat that score with two teams tying at the top at 23-under par. Playing alongside Mitch Klooz of Champions Run Omaha was Mitch Neujahr, Jake Kluver and Luke Kluver and they were one of the teams to finish tied for first. Tying Klooz and company at the top of the leaderboard was PGA Professional Justin Herron of Oak Hills Country Club and his Amatuer partners Jim Atkinson, Mike Humphrey and Tyler Moseman.
In the Professional-only division, seven Nebraska PGA Professionals managed to shoot red numbers after 27 holes highlighted by Justin Herron, PGA at 7-under par. Herron picked up his second Professional victory of the season while Host Professional Jon Petersen, PGA of Tiburon Golf Club finished one shot off at 6-under par for a solo-second finish.
