Lincoln, NE – The Nebraska Section PGA is proud to recognize Justin Henry, PGA, as the Wilson Sporting Goods Game Ball recipient for July.
The Wilson Game Ball honors PGA Professionals who demonstrate exceptional leadership, innovation, and commitment to the game of golf. The Wild Horse Golf Club Head Professional has continued to carve out extra time in his schedule to assist with junior golf, high school golfers and Veterans through PGA HOPE.
“It means the world to be recognized for this award. It is always nice to know that your hard work and dedication to the game is appreciated. I enjoy trying to make a difference, not only at my facility but also throughout our Section,” said Henry.
Justin Henry exemplifies what it means to lead by example — both on and off the course. In addition to his full-time role at Wild Horse, he finds time to be present at home with his wife and four children, while also dedicating himself to developing young athletes as an assistant coach for the Gothenburg Swede Boys Golf Team. Each afternoon, after finishing up at the course, Henry volunteers his time from 4 to 6 p.m. to work with the team, helping the players improve their game and their confidence.“Justin doesn’t have to do it — he wants to,” said Wild Horse Golf Club’s Director of Golf Tony Collins, PGA. “He teaches every day after work, and the guys love him for it.”
Last year, Henry reached a significant milestone in his professional development: completing his certification for PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere). The program introduces golf to Veterans and Active Duty Military to enhance their physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being. He’s continued to teach new waves of Veterans joining the program in 2025.
“PGA HOPE has always been important to me ever since I heard about it,” said Henry. “I rank that right up there with teaching juniors. It’s gratifying and so rewarding. A lot of the time, I feel I learn more from those men and women than they do from me,” Henry said.
For Henry, the program carries a personal connection. His grandfather — a Marine and the person who introduced him to the game — played a major role in shaping his love for golf.
“He was my best friend, and I have some of my greatest memories with him on the golf course,” Henry shared. “Being able to honor him and everyone else who has served our country is a blessing and a great honor.”
Despite the ongoing challenges he’s faced professionally and personally this year, Justin’s commitment to service has never wavered. Whether it’s guiding high school golfers, leading at his facility, or working with Veterans through PGA HOPE, Henry brings the same passion and purpose to every role he takes on.
“I enjoy building relationships with the students,” he said. “Helping with their game — whether it’s the physical aspect or the mental one — is very rewarding. My end goal is to obviously build up their golf game but to also give them things they can take away in their everyday lives.”
The Wilson Sporting Goods Game Ball Award celebrates Nebraska PGA Professionals who go above and beyond in their work and communities. Justin Henry embodies that spirit fully, making a difference in the lives of everyone he teaches, coaches, and supports.
Nominations for the next Wilson Sporting Goods Monthly Game Ball will open on August 1st and will close at 11:59 PM on August 15th.
