JONELL/PITMAN CAPTURE HCIS PRO 1-AM EVENT

Omaha, NE –  Near perfect scoring conditions welcomed Nebraska PGA Professionals and top Nebraska Amateur golfers for the HCIS Pro 1-Am at the Happy Hollow Club. The team of Sam Jonell of Miracle Hills Golf & Tennis and Amateur, Cody Pitman combined for seven birdies and managed to not count any bogeys in the one-net best ball format to post a tournament best seven-under-par 64 to win the team title. Jonell and Pitman started off their round with a string of birdies and found themselves four-under-par thru just the first seven holes.  Jonell/Pitman finished the first nine still at 4-under-par, but opened up their second nine with a birdie on hole ten and the duo stayed ahead of the pack throughout the rest of the day, finishing one shot better than Nick Wanderscheid, PGA of Dakota Dunes Country Club and his Amateur partner, Alex Kazos.

Shane Zywiec, PGA of Highlands Golf Course grabbed his first victory in the young 2020 season after finishing at 2-under-par, one of just two under-par rounds in the Professional field. Zywiec started out his round slow with two bogeys in just the first six holes, to go along with one birdie. After a 1-over-par first nine, Zywiec bounced back on his second nine. Zywiec drained a birdie on the par-five hole number 12 before three straight pars. Then in the last two holes, Zywiec birdied 16 and 18 to cap off a back-nine round of three-under-par 33, which gave him the two-under-par finish. Zywiec’s round of 69 held on even though Firethorn Golf Club’s Steve Friesen tried to make a late comeback, but he fell just one shot short with his own round of one-under-par.
