Lincoln, NE – The Nebraska PGA Wilson Sporting Goods Game Ball Award continues to highlight PGA Professionals who are making a meaningful impact in their facilities and communities. This month, we are proud to recognize Jared Palmer, PGA, of Sky View Golf Course as the Nebraska PGA Wilson Game Ball Award Recipient.

In 2025, Palmer made a commitment that would shape the future of junior golf in Alliance. After building a strong foundation for junior programming at Sky View since taking over in 2020, he knew it was time to take the next step — launching a PGA Jr. League program at the facility.

The result? Fourteen juniors participated in the inaugural season — the highest number of any new facility starting PGA Jr. League in 2025 within the Section.

Palmer didn’t just add the program name to the schedule. He built it with intention.

He created an in-house league that featured eight practices and five game days, all centered around a clear and simple goal: giving juniors the opportunity to learn the game of golf while playing on a team and having fun with their friends.

“First off, I’m honored to receive this award for Sky View, and this wouldn’t be possible without staff and volunteer help,” Palmer said. “In my short time here one of my top priorities was to develop a strong junior golf program. We currently have 70+ juniors in our program that has grown from 25 once I took over in 2020, so it was time to do the right thing and get on board with PGA Junior League. First year was good with 14 juniors that had a lot of fun and learned the game along the way. I anticipate this will grow fast once everyone has seen what it’s all about and how much fun we had.”

Starting something new always comes with uncertainty. There’s risk in wondering how it will be received, whether participation will follow, and if the investment of time and energy will pay off. But Palmer embraced that challenge — and in doing so, created a positive experience that is already making an impact at Sky View and throughout the Alliance community.

His efforts reflect exactly what PGA Jr. League is designed to do: introduce young players to the game in a welcoming, team-focused environment that emphasizes fun as much as fundamentals.

“This is a must do if you’re thinking about PGA Junior League!” Palmer added. “The juniors have a great time playing and it’s very rewarding as a professional to keep growing the game.”

For Palmer, the reward is simple.

“It’s a good fit for juniors to learn the game and have fun with their friends. Doesn’t get much better than that!”

By taking the initiative to expand junior opportunities and by investing in the next generation of golfers, Jerad Palmer, PGA, has positioned Skyview Golf Course for continued growth and long-term impact. The early success of the program is just the beginning.

Congratulations to Jared Palmer, PGA, of Sky View Golf Course in Alliance, on being named this month’s Nebraska PGA Wilson Sporting Goods Game Ball Award Recipient.

Nominations for the next Wilson Sporting Goods Monthly Game Ball will open on March 1st and will close at 11:59 PM on March 15th.
