Sioux City, IA. –Nebraska PGA Professionals and amateur golfers took part in the final round of the TaylorMade Pro-Am at Green Valley G.C.  In the low professional division, it was a shootout as Steve Friesen, PGA of Firethorn Golf Club, Alex Janssen, PGA of The Ridge Golf Club and Matt Nelson of Green Valley G.C. were all tied for lead at three-under-par heading into today’s final round. Friesen caught fire early and never looked back as he cruised to the victory by shooting bogey free seven-under-par 65 and posting a two-day total of 10-under-par 134 total. Friesen had a stretch of six holes which included four birdies. Janssen tried to hang close by dominating the par 5’s this weekend. Out of the eight par 5’s he faced this week, he was able to birdie seven and par one which helped propel him to solo second place and his highest finish in the 2019 Season.

The team competition featured a two-net format and it came down to the final couple of holes and Friesen helped lead his team to the victory by one shot. His amateurs included: Rod Doenhoefer, Tyson Bodlak and Grant Whalen.

The Nebraska Section PGA is truly appreciative to presenting sponsor TaylorMade Golf and regional representative, Joel Logan for sponsoring this event for the seventh consecutive year. A special thank you to Director of Golf, Scott Harmelink, PGA, Golf Course Superintendent, Shawn Vacura, Dan Moody and the entire professional team at Green Valley G.C. for hosting this terrific event.
