Omaha, NE – The Nebraska Section PGA hosted one of its final major championships of the season at Shadow Ridge Country Club with the 2025 Team Championship, presented by Coors Light, White Claw Hard Seltzer, and Twisted Tea. A total of 36 two-player teams competed in the intense 36-hole, one-day event, which featured a best-ball format during the first 18 holes, followed by a scramble format for the final 18. The field faced hot and humid conditions after an early morning thunderstorm swept through Omaha.
The tournament kicked off with a shotgun start at 9 a.m., and several teams quickly emerged as contenders for the championship trophies. Leading the pack after the opening round were Caleb Badura of Jackrabbit Run Golf Course and Mark Foelbaek, PGA, of Country Club of Lincoln. The duo posted an impressive 64 (8-under par), giving them a two-stroke lead heading into the afternoon scramble.
Hot on their heels were two teams of past champions. Steve Friesen, PGA, and Mike Coatman of Firethorn Golf Club, along with Ryan Vermeer, PGA, of Happy Hollow Club and Justin Herron, PGA, of Oak Hills Country Club, each carded a solid 66 (6-under par) to keep the competition tight. Several other teams also remained in contention, setting the stage for an exciting finish.
Despite the strong challenge, the early leaders maintained their momentum in the final round. Former Husker men’s golfers turned PGA professionals, Badura and Foelbaek, proved too strong for the rest of the field. Entering the final hole—a par-5 7th—they needed a birdie to seal the championship. After narrowly missing the green on their approach shot, they faced a crucial up-and-down. Badura’s wedge shot spun beautifully and settled close to the hole, allowing for a straightforward tap-in birdie and clinching the title with an impressive 20-under total.
Friesen and Coatman finished just one shot behind at 19-under, securing runner-up honors and narrowly missing a playoff. Herron and Vermeer took third place at 17-under, while the team of Petersen and Schaake rounded out the top four with a 15-under finish.

The Nebraska Section PGA encompasses the entire State of Nebraska, western fifth of Iowa and a small portion of South Dakota including Dakota Dunes and Yankton.
