DiGiacomo Picks Up Professional Victory While Host Professional and Company Defend Turf

Council Bluffs, IA. – 20 teams and 80 players were blessed with perfect scoring conditions and a beautiful day at Bent Tree Golf Club. Presented by Harris Golf Cars (Yamaha), the Pro-3Am event was played in a 1 Gross & 1 Net format with tee times starting at 8:30am and going throughout the afternoon. In addition, today’s event continued Nebraska PGA’s season-long Cup Series event, presented by Vinnie Krikac’s State Farm Insurance Agency making for an exciting day.

Beginning with the Pro-only division, several Nebraska PGA Professionals took advantage of the scoring conditions and posted red numbers. The field was led by Ted DiGiacomo, PGA of Golf Galaxy after he fired a 68 (4-under-par) to win Low-Professional honors. In his first nine holes, DiGiacomo went bogey-free with three birdies to shoot 33 which he followed up with a 35 on the back. DiGiacomo bogied No. 18 opening up the opportunity for Shane Zywiec, PGA of Highlands GC to tie or take the lead, but after a bogey on No. 17, he finished with a 69 (3-under-par) which was good enough for second while five other NEPGA Professionals tied for third at 2-under-par.

In the team division, Host Professional Tony Driscoll, PGA and his team of amateurs Fred Witecy, Tyler Huttman and Nathan Reese defended their home turf to go on and win by one stroke with a team score of 18-under-par in the 1 Gross & 1 Net format. Driscoll’s team went the entire day without a blemish on the scorecard while playing the par fours at 8-under-par which was a field best.
