Omaha, NE – Presented by Miller & Sons Golf Cars (E-Z-GO), the Nebraska Section PGA hosted its first major championship of the season with the 2026 Senior/Junior Championship at Omaha Country Club. The event featured two-person teams consisting of one Senior member (50 years or older) and one Junior member (49 years or younger), competing in an 18-hole best-ball stroke play format.
The two-time defending champions, Mark Foelbaek, PGA (Country Club of Lincoln) and James Sieckmann, PGA (Shadow Ridge Country Club), entered the championship as early favorites, but a talented field of teams stood ready to challenge the reigning champions in pursuit of the title.
Beginning their round on Hole No. 10, Sieckmann and Foelbaek picked up right where they left off, carding an opening birdie before adding four more over their next six holes to race out to an impressive 5-under start. Despite the fast opening stretch, several teams kept pace, creating a tightly contested leaderboard. With nine holes remaining, more than 10 teams remained firmly in the hunt for the championship.
Among those teams was the duo of Ted DiGiacomo, PGA (Happy Hollow Club) and Mike Coatman, PGA (Firethorn Golf Club). Beginning their round on Hole No. 13 due to the shotgun start, the pair came out firing with birdies on each of their first three holes. They made the turn to Hole No. 1 at 3-under before adding two more birdies to continue their momentum.
Standing on the No. 10 tee at 6-under, DiGiacomo and Coatman closed in impressive fashion, birdieing each of their final three holes to post a 9-under round. Their late surge matched the total of Foelbaek and Sieckmann, forcing extra holes and sending the Senior/Junior Championship to a playoff with the title on the line.
On No. 16, the first playoff hole, DiGiacomo found the fairway before stuffing his approach shot close and converting the birdie putt to secure the championship and dethrone the two-time defending champions.
Finishing solo third was the team of Joe Sutter, PGA (Quarry Oaks Golf Club) and Caleb Badura (Whispering Creek Golf Club), who posted an impressive 7-under total of 64. Three additional teams finished tied for fourth at 6-under (65), showcasing just how tightly contested the championship remained until the final putt.
