Lincoln, NE – The Nebraska Section PGA and PGA REACH Nebraska recognize PGA HOPE Nebraska Ambassador and Air Force Veteran David Karl for his outstanding service to the game of golf and PGA HOPE. PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) is the flagship military program for the PGA REACH Nebraska. PGA HOPE is pursued in partnership with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and is the only golf instruction program taught by PGA Professional as a therapeutic program to aid in the rehabilitation process for veterans.  PGA HOPE is open to all military veterans with an emphasis on serving those with physical and emotional disabilities who would benefit the most from such an initiative.

After graduating from the PGA HOPE program in 2018, David Karl has dedicated his time to recruiting Veterans to join the same program that changed his life. Being a member of the inaugural PGA HOPE Nebraska class in Omaha was just the beginning as Karl was chosen to be PGA REACH Nebraska’s PGA HOPE Ambassador going forward. Along with 19 other PGA HOPE Ambassadors from around the country, Karl represents PGA HOPE Nebraska on the national level, and he’s been a big reason why the program has flourished.

“The Nebraska Section of the PGA has given me so much since that first day of PGA Club Professionals Training at Quarry Oaks and going through the first class of PGA Hope Training and now I can give back to the Veterans on my own being the PGA HOPE Ambassador”, David Karl said.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the past year was hard for all of us, but it didn’t hold back David Karl from volunteering hours of his time to help provide the PGA HOPE program as an opportunity for our Veterans this year. In 2020, he attended countless Nebraska PGA Section and Foundation events including all 16 PGA HOPE fall sessions in both Omaha and Lincoln, the Inaugural PGA HOPE Cup, the 2020 NEPGA Spring Meeting and the 2020 Honoring Military Heroes Pro-Am. In addition, he represented Nebraska at the 2020 PGA HOPE National Golf and Wellness Week Virtual Event. Karl is grateful for every opportunity that has come his way.

“Being a PGA Hope Ambassador gives me the opportunity to interface the knowledge that I have acquired over the years in the Military and as an Amputee and someone who loves golf, and I can pass that on to many more Veterans through PGA HOPE”, said Karl

PGA REACH Nebraska’s Managing Director, Seth Scollard, PGA has high praise for David Karl.

“David Karl volunteers his time as our PGA HOPE Ambassador to make PGA HOPE Nebraska the best in the country! He is so passionate about making this program available to all of our local Veterans in need. I love working with David and I look forward to him helping us grow PGA HOPE across the Nebraska PGA Section in the years to come”, said Scollard.
