Omaha, NE – To kick off the Section’s tournament season during their Centennial year, 21 teams competed at Tiburon Golf Club in the 27-Hole Harris Golf Cars Pro-Am, supported by both Chesterman Co. Coca-Cola and Vinnie Krikac’s State Farm Insurance Agency. Cold temperatures welcomed the players making for tough scoring conditions, yet several Nebraska PGA Professionals posted impressive scores.

In the Professional-only field, Carson Schaake of Tiburon Golf Club defended his home turf and collected his first victory of the season. Schaake made 9 birdies on the day and finished at 7-under to lead the field. Finishing runner-up was Steve Friesen, PGA of Firethorn Golf Club fired an impressive 5-under total for a solid start to his season. Tying for third was both Justin Herron, PGA of Oak Hills Country Club and Mark Foelbaek, PGA of the Country Club of Lincoln at 3-under.

In the team event, the Nebraska PGA Professionals joined three amateurs for a 27-holes featuring a different format on each nine-hole course at Tiburon GC. The Mako course was played through one-net best ball, the Great White course was two-net best ball while Hammerhead was one-gross and one-net best ball.

Brad Bailey, PGA played alongside Nikolai Knezovich, Scott Oehm and Brett Quinn representing Wilderness Ridge Country Club. Their squad posted a field-best 19-under to win the team event. Finishing tied for second were the teams led by Kevin Drew, PGA of the PGA of America and Shane Zywiec, PGA of Highlands Golf Course.

We would like to thank General Manager Bob Hill Jr., Director of Golf Matt Wollum, PGA, Superintendent Justin Wennstedt and the entire staff at Tiburon Golf Club for hosting us.
