Nebraska City, Neb. – Dormie Network’s ArborLinks played host to the 2020 Pinnacle Bank Championship Nebraska Qualifier, presented by Aetna. Nebraska golfers – or those with ties to the state – were given the opportunity to earn a spot in the PGA TOUR’s 2020 Korn Ferry Tour Pinnacle Bank Championship to compete for a share of the $600,000 purse.

The tournament played as a one-day event but with two rounds and 36 holes of action. After the first round, Happy Hollow Club’s PGA Professional, Ryan Vermeer, PGA led after firing a 6-under-par 66 featuring seven total birdies. Right behind him was Omaha’s Carson Schaake who happened to be in his pairing. Schaake took a bogey on hole No. 18 in his first round to card a 5-under-par 67 and he went into his second round just one stroke behind Vermeer. Though nine players were in the mix after the first round, it turned into a two-man battle for one spot into the Korn Ferry Tour event.

After Vermeer opened up his second round with a bogey on hole No. 1, all things were square between the two. The former Hawkeye and Omaha native Carson Schaake began to heat up and went on a six hole stretch with four birdies during his front nine in the second round. Schaake built up a three-stroke lead and never looked back.

Carson Schaake finished the day with 13 total birdies, four of which came on par 3’s and finished the day with a two-round total score of 134 and 10-under-par. Omaha’s Ryan Vermeer and Norfolk’s Luke Kluver finished tied for second at 7-under-par with Lincoln’s Nate Vontz coming in fourth at 5-under-par.

We would like to thank today’s presenting sponsor Aetna as well as General Manager J. D. Brake, PGA and the entire professional team at ArborLinks for hosting yet another fantastic event.

The 2020 Pinnacle Bank Championship is set for July 30-Aug. 2 at The Club at Indian Creek in Elkhorn. For more information about the Pinnacle Bank Championship, please visit
