Lincoln, NE – The Nebraska PGA is proud to recognize Bill Jacobsen, City of Omaha Golf Professional at The Knolls Golf Course, as the November Wilson Game Ball Recipient, an honor nominated and selected by fellow Nebraska PGA Professionals. For those who know Bill and the way he approaches the game, the recognition comes as no surprise.
Over the last month, Bill has been an integral part of the PGA HOPE program at Benson Park, bringing both technical skill and genuine connection to the veterans who participate. His calm, knowledgeable approach to teaching — paired with his ability to make every veteran feel seen and supported — has stood out to his peers.
Bill says the opportunity to work with veterans carries personal meaning.
“I have a couple of close friends that served in the Navy. The things they have endured in service made me want to give back in a way I can be effective,” he shared. “We owe so much to these men and women who give everything to keep us safe. PGA HOPE is an outstanding program — I am proud to be able to help in any way I can.”

In addition to his work with veterans, Bill has taken a leading role in the City of Omaha Introduction to Golf Junior Program, where he has quickly become a steady, positive presence for young golfers. His ability to create a fun, welcoming environment while teaching fundamentals has helped the program thrive.
“Junior golf is so much fun when you get to see these young kids grow up and start playing as an adult,” Bill said. “My favorite thing is seeing that smile when a kid hits their first good shot.”
This year, Bill also dedicated time to mentoring a young associate professional, Drew Wilderman, who recently moved into the PGA Associate’s program. Watching Bill guide both young players and a rising golf professional reflects his commitment to growing the game at every level.
“Since I took the extended route to become a PGA Member, I have a different perspective than others,” Bill said. “I didn’t have anyone push me early in my career. It has been great to watch Drew go all-in on becoming a PGA Member. While I wish I could have had him around longer, it is great to see him reach goals he set in such a short amount of time.”
For Bill, being selected by his peers makes the recognition incredibly meaningful.
“It is an honor to know that another professional has noticed your work,” he said. “We are fortunate to work in a field that can be so rewarding and fun.”
Whether he is inspiring veterans, guiding juniors, or mentoring the next generation of PGA Professionals, Bill Jacobsen embodies the spirit of service, professionalism, and passion that the Nebraska PGA strives to elevate across the Section.
Nominations for the next Wilson Sporting Goods Monthly Game Ball will open on December 1st and will close at 11:59 PM on December 15th.
