From PGA HOPE Graduate to Program Leader, Bogle’s Journey Comes Full Circle

Lincoln, NE – The Nebraska Section PGA is proud to announce Amber Bogle as its new Director of Foundation Programs. This marks a full-circle moment in Bogle’s inspiring journey—from participant in the PGA HOPE Nebraska program to now leading the very foundation that helped her rediscover purpose through the game of golf.

Bogle’s story with the Nebraska PGA began in May 2023, when she graduated from the six-week PGA HOPE program which is designed to support veterans through the therapeutic benefits of golf. What began as a hopeful return to the military community, a newfound purpose quickly ignited a passion that would redefine her career path. Inspired by the PGA Professionals who guided her, Bogle remained actively involved as a volunteer and soon began envisioning a larger role within the organization.

After a pivotal conversation with Seth Scollard, PGA, Assistant Executive Director of the Nebraska PGA, Bogle set her sights on becoming a PGA Professional. With his encouragement and belief in her abilities, she began the PGA Associate’s program and accepted a one-year position as Nebraska PGA’s first PGA WORKS Fellow, immersing herself in foundation programming.

Over the past year, Bogle has contributed to the planning and execution of the impactful PGA REACH Nebraska initiatives, including PGA HOPE and Clubs FORE Youth. Her connection to both programs runs deep—she’s not only walked in the shoes of the veterans PGA HOPE serves, but she also resonates with the mission of Clubs FORE Youth, having once been a high school athlete herself.

During her tenure as a Fellow, Bogle earned national recognition as a PGA HOPE Ambassador, attending the 2024 National Golf & Wellness Week at Congressional Country Club. She was also a member of Team Nebraska at the 2024 PGA HOPE Secretary’s Cup in Louisville, Kentucky. Additionally, Bogle was appointed by PGA of America President, Don Rea, Jr. to serve on the national Advocacy Committee. Recently she represented the PGA of America at National Golf Day in Washington, DC, where she met with members of Nebraska’s Federal Delegation to discuss golf’s 15,000 diverse businesses across the country that provide 2 million jobs, create tax revenue, and add tourism value.

As Director of Foundation Programs, Bogle will now oversee the design, execution, and evaluation of all PGA REACH Nebraska programs, which span the Military, Youth, and Inclusion pillars.

Bogle’s appointment is a testament to her resilience, leadership, and heartfelt commitment to the mission of PGA REACH Nebraska.

“Never in a million years would I have imagined that I would consider myself a golfer or working in the golf industry. Now, I cannot imagine my life without it,” said Bogle.

From searching for purpose to becoming a guiding force for others, Amber Bogle is not just an example of how golf can transform lives—she is now in a position to help shape and grow those transformations for years to come.

Congratulations, Amber! The Nebraska PGA is proud to have you leading the way. Below is an open letter from Amber as she describes her experience at the Nebraska PGA.

I once read there is no such thing as luck; just opportunities that you are prepared for. While I reflect on the last 12-months spent as the PGA WORKS Fellow for the Nebraska Section, I feel as if decades of wanting more had prepared me for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

The intent of the PGA WORKS Fellowship Program is to provide a traditionally underrepresented population an opportunity to be completely immersed in a PGA Section’s foundation operations. It is also facilitates exposure to all aspects of the golf business. I am so thankful to have learned from the best of the best in the industry. While several memories, lessons and takeaways stood out as I reminisced, most bringing a smile to my face, I thought I’d share a few of my favorites.

1. The importance of properly spacing rebar on practice greens, especially if mowers will come through. I will NEVER forget!

2. The Birdie Bonanza, where our PGA Professionals raised more than $150,000 for PGA REACH Nebraska. While it was likely the longest day of the year, it was also the most fun. Seeing our PGA Professionals come together to show how much they believe in and support our PGA REACH programs was not only energizing but extremely fulfilling.

3. Graduating over 220 veterans from our PGA HOPE programs in 2024, helping grow the community we have here in the Nebraska Section. A community made of encouraging, supportive and caring military veterans, active service members as well our PGA Professionals, all of whom I call my friends.

4. Being able to empower high school female golfers and help build their confidence through our Clubs FORE Youth program. Seeing these athletes realize they are special will always leave me with the drive to do more.

5. My Nebraska PGA family. The smell of bug spray and sunscreen in the mornings, boxed lunches, loading and unloading parties, crazy conversations, laughs, tears, sunrises and sunsets, along with an unbelievable amount of Diet Cokes. Life has never felt so right being part of this team.

The experiences, the programs, the game and most of all, the people, were in-fact life changing. While I am sad that my 12-months has to come to an end, I know this journey is just the beginning. As the Director of Foundation Programs for the Nebraska PGA, I look forward to continuing to develop stronger relationships with our PGA Professionals, without them the PGA REACH Nebraska programs would not exist. I am also very eager for the veterans and youth I will meet through our Foundation programs, showing each of them the beauty of the game of golf and how much it can impact your life.

Finally, while I have always aspired to inspire, I never knew the mechanism to achieve this desire. In my position as the PGA WORKS Fellow for the Nebraska PGA, I was able to do so and as your Director of Foundation Programs, I will continue to fulfill that dream and more.
