Omaha, NE. – Presented by E-Z-GO/Miller & Sons Golf Cars, Happy Hollow Club played host to the Nebraska Section PGA’s HCIS Pro-Am. Blistering heat welcomed the Section’s biggest field of the season which featured 40 teams and 160 players. PGA Professionals teamed up with three Amateurs from across the state to compete in the two-net best ball format while the Professionals additionally competed in their own division.
Happy Hollow Club proved why it’s one of the tougher tracks in the Midwest with just two PGA Professionals shooting red numbers. The two were Nebraska legends Jim White, PGA MP of The Fairways at Lincoln and Ryan Vermeer, PGA of Happy Hollow Club. Standing on 17 tee, Vermeer was 5-under par after his sixth birdie of the day on No. 16. After his second bogey of the day on No. 17, Vermeer made a costly double-bogey on 18 to finish his day at 2-under-par (69). The ageless White shot better than his age yet again in a round that featured five birdies. White went on to shoot 3-under-par (68) to grab another Professional victory in the Nebraska Section.
In the team division, impressive scores were put together by teams all over the board, but none more impressive than Nathan Kalin, PGA of Fremont Golf Club and his Amateur partners Tom Walker, Mitch Walker and Renen Sahr. Their squad put together a finishing total of 20-under-par in the two-net best ball format which was four shots better than second place. Tom Walker and his company Health Care Information Systems were the title sponsor of the event and he helped defend his home turf of Happy Hollow Club.
