Storm Captures The Golf FORE The Troops ProAm

Lincoln, NE. – A near perfect day for golf welcomed some of the top Nebraska Section PGA Professionals and amateur golfers to the 12th Golf FORE The Troops Pro-Am at Wilderness Ridge Golf Club.  Andrew Storm of Shadow Ridge Golf Club and Shane Zywiec, PGA of Highlands Golf Course took advantage of these conditions to post five-under-par 66 to capture the low professional title.  At the end of the day, Storm came out victorious in the playoff against Zywiec to capture his 1st Nebraska Section PGA Professional title.

The team competition featured a tournament best 27-under-par finish led by Justin Herron of Pacific Springs Golf Course and his amateur partners, Jim Atkinson, Ed Taylor and Josh Larrison.

The special day also featured the 12th anniversary of the Golf FORE the Troops Pro-Am presented by Nelnet.  Since the inception of this event, it has raised over $165,000 in scholarships to Nebraska children of military parents who have served in IRAQ, Afghanistan or in any other military conflict since 9/11.  The Nebraska Section PGA is truly appreciative to all the sponsors and we look forward to another fantastic Golf FORE The Troops in 2019.

Lastly, special thanks to PGA Head Professional, Chris Thomson, Golf Course Superintendent, Tom Athy and the entire professional team at Wilderness Ridge G.C. for hosting this terrific event that continues to benefit those who have given it all so we can have our freedom.
