Vermeer Captures Third Consecutive Low Professional Title At The Club Car Pro-Am
Lincoln, NE. – A stormy morning gave way to clear skies and Ryan Vermeer, PGA of Happy Hollow Club of Omaha, capitalized on these conditions to post six-under-par 66 to capture his third consecutive low professional title. The reigning OMEGA Nebraska Section PGA Player of the Year got off to a hot start with a birdie on hole #1 and closed his front nine with a birdie, eagle, birdie to finish with an outward nine of four-under par 32. Vermeer’s bogey free back nine helped propel him to a two-under-par 34 on his inward nine. During the past three weeks Vermeer’s scoring average is a staggering 67.0. Making this accomplishment even more impressive is the fact that the weather conditions have been challenging during this stretch with either blustery winds or rain. Earlier in the day, Ted DiGiacomo, PGA of Golf Galaxy – Omaha, posted the first low score of the day with his best round of the season at five-under-par 67. DiGiacomo’s round featured four birdies and an impressive eagle on the par 5 13th hole. DiGiacomo had one blemish on his card with a bogey on the five on the par 4 15th hole. Matching DiGiacomo’s round was Judd Cornell of the University of Nebraska who got off to a rough start but finished strong by birding seven out of his last 12 holes to finish T2nd and his best finish of the season.
