FRIESEN & CORNELL CAPTURE PRO-PRO
Columbus, Nebraska – A perfect day for golf at Quail Run G.C. welcomed Nebraska Section PGA Members and PGA Associates to the Cutter & Buck Pro-Pro supported by the PGA TOUR. Steve Friesen, Director of Instruction at Firethorn G.C. and Judd Cornell, Assistant Men’s Golf Coach for the University of Nebraska – Lincoln tore it up in team best-ball format to post a tournament best of 12-under-par 60. Friesen got off to a hot start by birding his first two holes and Cornell struggled out of the gate. However, over the course of their final 12 holes Friesen and Cornell were a staggering 11-under-par in the best-ball format. Friesen captured low professional honors with a six-under-par 66 and Cornell finished at two-under-par 70 and solo fourth place. Finishing second place with a solid round of eight-under-par 64 was Billy Keane, PGA of Sioux City C.C. and Sam Jonell, PGA of Miracle Hill Golf & Tennis. Jonell finished with one of his best rounds of the season with a four-under-par 68. Rounding out the top three teams at six-under-par 66 was Kevin Drew, PGA and his partner, Kevin Boehler, PGA both of the Field Club; Kyle Schellpeper, PGA of Oak Hills C.C. and his partner, Sean O’Neill, PGA of the Nebraska Section PGA.
