Section Efforts


Each year the Nebraska Section continues to advance its mission of growing the game of golf by supporting and participating in our local community. Many lives have been changed for the better through the Section’s support of the CureSearch and Sticks for Kids programs.




CureSearch for Children’s Cancer is a national non-profit foundation which funds the lifesaving, collaborative research of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), the world’s largest, cooperative children’s cancer research entity. Money raised supports bench-to-bedside research which includes developing studies, enrolling and treating patients and interpreting the results of the clinical trials.
CureSearch receives grants from the National Cancer Institute and raises funds through philanthropic donations from individuals, special events, corporations and private foundations. The Nebraska Section PGA and its golf professionals showed their support for the CureSearch Walk event by attending and providing free golf lessons.



Since 1998, the Golf Course Builders Association of America Foundation has taken a special interest in supporting under privileged children with the Sticks for Kids Program, a junior golf outreach program for children who may not have the opportunity to learn and play the game.

The Sticks for Kids Program provides clubs, bags, and instructors for participating courses and teaches kids not only the fundamentals of the game, but also life lessons related to integrity, safety, and etiquette. Environmental awareness is also taught with materials written in collaboration with Audubon International and Project Evergreen. Our ongoing partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association has allowed for enhanced growth opportunities totaling over 550 programs in all 50 states and 18 international military bases.


Play Golf America, a nationwide golf-marketing program led by the PGA of America, represents the culmination of industry efforts set into motion by the first GOLF 20/20 conference. Launched in 2004, the campaign has focused on a target audience of new and occasional golfers—a combined group of 31 million individuals—in an effort to increase play.

Among the many Play Golf America initiatives featured on the site are Get Golf Ready, Free Lesson Month, Tee It Forward and Patriot Golf Day. For a complete listing of programs, visit
