Herron Captures Harris Golf Cars Pro-Am

Council Bluffs, IA. – Nebraska Section PGA Professionals and their amateur members and guests were treated to some great conditions at the inaugural Harris Golf Cars Pro-Am at Bent Tree G.C. in Council Bluffs, IA.  Justin Herron of Pacific Spring G.C. and past Wells Fargo Nebraska Open Champion returned to form with an impressive six-under-par 66.  Herron had only one blemish on his card with a bogey on the par 3 eighth hole but did make some timely putts coming hole to secure the one stroke victory over Ryan Vermeer, PGA of Tiburon G.C. who posted a five-under-par 67.  Rounding out the top three was Sam Jonell, PGA of Miracle Hill Golf & Tennis who posted his best round of the season with a three-under-par 69.  Bent Tree G.C. will also be one of two host facilities for the upcoming Monday Qualifier on Monday, July 17th for the Pinnacle Bank Championship presented by Heartland Chevy Dealers.

6.6-magnitude quake hits Indonesia's SulawesiA shallow, 6.6-magnitude earthquake hit inland on the central Indonesian island of Sulawesi Monday, US seismologists said, causing people to panic but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage. Muhammad Guntur, who lives on the outskirts of the town, said it was felt strongly. A hotel worker in Poso also said that people panicked when the quake struck but that things had returned to normal there.

Thousands protest against Moscow housing resettlement, but numbers fallThousands of Muscovites protested in the south-west of the Russian capital on Sunday against government plans to resettle millions of citizens from shoddy Soviet-era apartment blocks, but numbers had fallen compared to earlier rallies. A Reuters witness said around 5,000 people attended the latest rally, compared to organizers' estimates of 60,000 at a protest on May 14. Moscow residents are also concerned about the location and quality of the planned new accommodation, a lack of services and infrastructure and about threats the redevelopment may pose to the historic face of the Russian capital.
